This session will feature the five early career scholars and their research: Cassiopée Guillet (Paris) on the representation of hearing in sixteenth-century Netherlandish painting; Sophie Reiland (Paris) on the methodological obstacles in auditory research of unconventional towns; Laura Thorn (Cambridge) on music, science, and female community in Margaret Cavendish’s The Convent of Pleasure; Alizée Piel (Oslo) on travel writing and the perception of Kulokk in Scandinavia; and Eirini Manolopolou about representations of hearing in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Ars Apodemica.
